Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of developing this scholarly article on “A Strategic and Financial Analysis of Adani Green Energy Limited: Sustainability, Innovation, and Market Leadership in India’s Renewable Energy Sector” is to examine the strategic, financial, operational, and sustainability practices that have enabled Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) to emerge as one of India's leading renewable energy companies. The article aims to analyze AGEL's business model, financial performance, competitive positioning, innovation initiatives, ESG practices, human resource strategies, emerging challenges, and future growth prospects. The study provides valuable insights into how renewable energy firms can achieve sustainable competitive advantage while supporting the global transition toward clean energy. The company develops and operates large-scale solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects across India and emphasizes technology-driven growth and long-term sustainability.

Methodology: This study adopts an exploratory qualitative case study approach to examine Adani Green Energy Limited. The analysis is based primarily on secondary data collected through company annual reports, official corporate publications, scholarly journal articles, Google Scholar, company websites, financial databases, and other credible online sources. Various company analysis frameworks including SWOC Analysis, ABCD Analysis, financial ratio analysis, strategic analysis, sustainability analysis, human resource management analysis, and emerging issues and strategies analysis are employed to evaluate the company's overall business performance in line with the research objectives. The analysis is supported by systematic interpretation of secondary information and qualitative assessment of AGEL's strategic initiatives.

Results & Analysis: The study reveals that Adani Green Energy Limited has achieved significant growth by strategically expanding its renewable energy portfolio, adopting advanced digital technologies, strengthening operational efficiency, and integrating sustainability into its business strategy. The analysis indicates that the company's strong investment in solar, wind, hybrid energy projects, energy storage solutions, digital transformation, ESG initiatives, and human capital development has enhanced its market leadership and long-term competitiveness. Furthermore, AGEL's emphasis on innovation, strategic partnerships, efficient project execution, and responsible corporate governance has strengthened its resilience despite challenges such as regulatory uncertainty, financing risks, and renewable energy integration. The findings demonstrate that technology-driven innovation and sustainability-oriented strategies have become key drivers of AGEL's continued growth and value creation.

Originality/Values: The originality of this article lies in its comprehensive evaluation of Adani Green Energy Limited by integrating strategic management, financial analysis, sustainability practices, innovation, ESG performance, and organizational management within a single exploratory framework. The study contributes to the literature on renewable energy management by presenting AGEL as a practical example of sustainable corporate growth driven by technological innovation, strategic investments, and responsible business practices. The findings provide valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, investors, corporate managers, and renewable energy organizations seeking to understand the critical success factors that support long-term competitiveness and sustainable development in the clean energy sector.
