Purpose: The purpose of this scholarly paper is to examine the evolution and growth of the cement industry in India by analyzing its historical development, production trends, market structure, sustainability initiatives, and future prospects. The study highlights the importance of the cement industry in supporting infrastructure development, urbanization, and economic growth. By employing strategic frameworks such as SWOC (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Challenges), ABCD (Advantages, Benefits, Constraints, and Disadvantages), and PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental), the study aims to evaluate the industry's competitive position, identify key influencing factors, and provide strategic recommendations for sustainable growth.
Methodology: This study adopts an exploratory qualitative research approach using secondary data collected from scholarly journals, books, government reports, industry publications, company reports, and other reliable online sources. The collected information was systematically reviewed and analyzed using SWOC, ABCD, and PESTLE frameworks to understand the internal and external factors affecting the Indian cement industry.
Results/Discussion: The findings reveal that the Indian cement industry has achieved significant growth due to rapid urbanization, increasing infrastructure projects, and strong demand from the construction sector. The study identifies the industry's major strengths, opportunities, challenges, and environmental factors while emphasizing the importance of sustainability, technological advancements, efficient resource utilization, and environmental responsibility for long-term competitiveness and growth.
Novelty/Values: This paper provides a comprehensive understanding of the Indian cement industry by integrating strategic analytical frameworks with industry trends and sustainability perspectives. The findings offer useful insights and practical recommendations for policymakers, industry professionals, researchers, investors, and other stakeholders to support informed decision-making and promote sustainable development within the cement sector.
