Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to conduct an exploratory case study of Karnataka Bank Limited by examining its historical development, financial performance, technology, governance, and growth strategy. The study applies SWOC, ABCD, financial analysis, and technological strategy analysis to evaluate the Bank's capabilities and challenges. It further provides suggestions for customer satisfaction, digital development, and sustainable growth.

Methodology: This study adopts an exploratory qualitative case study approach. Information was collected from scholarly articles, Google Scholar, official company publications, annual reports, financial reports, authenticated online sources, and AI-assisted research tools. The information was analysed using SWOC, ABCD, financial analysis, and technological strategy analysis in accordance with the objectives of the study.

Analysis & Suggestions: The analysis highlights Karnataka Bank's strong heritage, customer relationships, diversified banking activities, improving financial performance, and growing digital capabilities. Key challenges include competition, cybersecurity, technology investment, changing customer expectations, asset quality, and digital skill requirements. The study recommends strengthening digital banking, MSME-focused products, strategic partnerships, employee capabilities, customer feedback, and responsible governance.

Originality / Value: This paper provides a holistic analysis of Karnataka Bank Limited by integrating strategic, financial, technological, governance, human resource, and customer perspectives. It examines how an established banking institution is adapting to digital transformation and competitive changes. The study provides useful insights for researchers, banking professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders interested in sustainable banking growth.
