Author Instructions

The Poornaprajna International Journal of Basic Sciences (PIJBS) invites original, scholarly, and unpublished manuscripts in the broad area of basic sciences and allied interdisciplinary fields. Authors are requested to prepare their manuscripts strictly in accordance with the journal's format and submit them through the online submission system. Manuscripts that do not follow the prescribed format may be returned to authors for correction before peer review. The Template can be downloaded in both Word format and PDF format

1. General Instructions

Author names should be written below the title. Each author’s affiliation should include department, institution, city, state, and country. Authors are encouraged to provide ORCID IDs to improve author identification and research visibility.

The corresponding author should be clearly marked with an asterisk or suitable indication. The corresponding author’s e-mail ID and contact number should be provided.

5. Abstract

The manuscript should include a structured abstract. The abstract should summarize the purpose, method, major findings, originality, and type of paper. The template follows a structured abstract format with the following headings:

  1. Purpose
  2. Methodology/Approach
  3. Findings/Result
  4. Originality/Value
  5. Paper Type

The abstract should be written in a single section before the keywords. It should clearly present the main contribution of the paper and should normally avoid citations, tables, figures, and unexplained abbreviations.

6. Keywords

Authors should provide suitable keywords after the abstract. Keywords should represent the major concepts, methods, variables, subject area, and scope of the paper. Normally, 4 to 8 keywords may be provided.

Example format:

Keywords: Basic sciences, research methodology, experimental analysis, theoretical framework, scientific innovation.

7. Structure of the Manuscript

Authors may organize the manuscript according to the nature of the paper. However, the following structure is recommended:

  1. Introduction
  2. Related Works / Literature Review
  3. Objectives
  4. Methodology
  5. Analysis / Results / Discussion
  6. Findings
  7. Recommendations, if applicable
  8. Conclusion
  9. References

The uploaded template uses numbered main headings such as 1. Introduction, 2. Related Works, 3. Objectives, 4. Methodology, and subsequent sections. Authors are encouraged to follow a clear numbered heading system for readability and academic presentation.

8. Introduction

The introduction should present the background of the study, research problem, significance of the topic, research gap, and purpose of the paper. It should help readers understand why the study is important and how it contributes to the field.

9. Literature Review / Related Works

The literature review should critically examine relevant previous studies, theories, models, methods, and research findings. Authors should cite recent and important scholarly works from journals, books, conference proceedings, and other academic sources.

The review should not be a mere summary of earlier studies. It should identify gaps, limitations, contradictions, or unexplored areas that justify the present study.

10. Objectives

The objectives of the study should be clearly listed. Objectives may be written in numbered form. They should be specific, measurable, and aligned with the research problem, methodology, analysis, and conclusion.

11. Methodology

The methodology section should explain the method adopted in the study. Depending on the type of paper, this section may include:

  • research design
  • data source
  • sampling method
  • experimental setup
  • tools and techniques used
  • theoretical or conceptual framework
  • statistical methods
  • software or laboratory methods
  • validation procedure
  • ethical approval, if applicable

The methodology should be sufficiently clear so that other researchers can understand, verify, or replicate the study.

12. Tables

Tables should be numbered consecutively as Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, and so on. Each table should have a clear and descriptive title. Tables should be placed near the relevant text where they are discussed.

Table content should be readable, properly aligned, and academically formatted. Authors should avoid unnecessary decorative formatting. If a table is adapted from another source, proper citation must be given.

13. Figures, Diagrams, and Images

Figures, diagrams, charts, graphs, and images should be numbered consecutively as Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 3, and so on. Each figure should have a suitable caption below it.

Figures should be clear, high-resolution, and relevant to the manuscript. Authors must ensure that they have permission to use copyrighted images, diagrams, or illustrations. Any adapted or reproduced figure must be properly cited.

The uploaded template includes figures with captions such as “Fig. 1: Block diagram…” and “Fig. 2: Components…”, showing the preferred figure-numbering style.

14. Results and Discussion

The results section should present the major findings of the study clearly and logically. The discussion should interpret the results, compare them with previous studies, explain implications, and identify possible limitations.

Authors should avoid repeating the same information in text, tables, and figures. The discussion should be analytical and evidence-based.

15. Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the major findings, contribution, implications, and possible future scope of the study. It should be directly connected to the objectives and results of the paper. Authors should avoid introducing new data or new arguments in the conclusion.

16. References

References must be prepared carefully and should follow APA format. The uploaded template states that references should generally include minimum 20 references, preferably from journals.

Authors should ensure that all in-text citations are included in the reference list and all references listed are cited in the text. References should be accurate, complete, and consistent.

Examples of reference style:

Journal Article:

Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year). Title of the article. Title of the Journal, volume(issue), page range.

17. Citation Style

Authors should cite all borrowed ideas, data, quotations, methods, tables, figures, and images. Citations should be used wherever the manuscript refers to earlier studies, theories, concepts, or findings.

Authors should avoid excessive self-citation, citation manipulation, and irrelevant references. All citations must support the scholarly argument of the paper.

18. Paper Types Accepted

PIJBS may consider the following types of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Conceptual Research Papers
  • Experimental Studies
  • Theoretical Papers
